Energy Conservation Plan
The Red Lodge City Council formally adopted the Energy Conservation Plan on October 23, 2018. This Plan is designed to serve as a road map for reducing the City’s energy use, energy costs, and greenhouse gas emissions. It sets reduction goals and identifies strategies for reaching them.
The Plan was formed around the City of Red Lodge Baseline Assessment, which is the energy use, cost, and greenhouse gas emissions inventory of City government operations. In 2020, a similar baseline assessment of greenhouse gas emissions was taken of the entire community of Red Lodge. A committee of Red Lodge citizens helped write the Plan. They have expertise in energy, building efficiency, education, land use, transportation, and city government.
Robin Adams, the 2019-2020 Energy Corps member, wrote ‘Tiny but Mighty’ – a piece on resilience planning in small, rural communities in the state of Montana using the City of Red Lodge Energy Conservation Plan as a frame of reference.
