Main Street Program Committee

The City of Red Lodge is an approved affiliate member of the Montana Main Street Program, administered by the Community Development Division of the Montana Department of Commerce.  The Montana Main Street Program helps communities strengthen and preserve their historic downtown commercial districts by focusing on economic development, urban revitalization and historic preservation through proactive long-range planning, organization, design and promotion.

The Red Lodge Main Street Program Committee will focus on the following:

  • Economic Vitality: This point emphasizes capital, incentives, and financial tools to  support businesses and property development.
  • Design: Enhancing the physical appearance of commercial districts through improvements like signage and landscaping.
  • Promotion: Creating a positive image for the district through marketing and community events.
  • Organization: Building a strong foundation for sustainable revitalization efforts, including community partnerships and resources.

The Main Street Program Committee shall be comprised of no more than 7 and no less than 5 individuals appointed by the mayor with the consent of council. There shall be a representative from the following:

  • 1 member from the Red Lodge Chamber of Commerce with the intent of representing Red Lodge commerce and tourism;
  • 1 member from the Red Lodge Business Alliance with the intent of representing the main street businesses;
  • 1 member from the Red Lodge Area Community Foundation with the intent of representing the nonprofit community;
  • 1 member from the City Council representing the constituency;
  • 1 member from the City Planning Staff representing an understanding of City process and project development; and
  • Up to 2 volunteers who may or may not be affiliated with the aforementioned organizations.
