For those living in the Floodplain:

Immediately following a disaster, an Emergency Notification needs to be sent to the Floodplain Administrator describing any emergency work done in the floodplain. Initiation of a Floodplain Permit is required within 30 days of the Emergency Notification.

  • For the 2022 spring flood, an Emergency Notification can be found here.
  • A Floodplain Permit (AKA "Joint Application") and additional resources can be found under the DNRC's Floodplain Regulation resources, or by reaching out to the Floodplain Administrator.
  • Remember that all work in the floodplain requires a floodplain permit to be submitted to the Floodplain Administrator.

Substantial Damage Estimates:

Per Red Lodge's Floodplain Regulations, Section 1.17 Disaster Recovery, the City is required to complete Substantial Damage assessments for properties within the 100-year floodplain AND have been impacted by the flooding event. This requirement is part of the City's participation in the National Flood Insurance Program, which allows homeowners the option to apply for federally subsidized flood insurance and qualify for loans.

Individual Assistance:

As of June 30th, individuals impacted by the spring flooding event in Carbon County can apply for assistance through FEMA. FEMA will send in an IA team to assist applicants with the application process. A FEMA IA Fact Sheet is provided below.
